I’m Joe Warren, join me on fly fish pursuit!

I started fly fishing at age 10 after being amazed by the first fly fisherman I watched dry fly fishing in a crystal clear stream for trout. I knew right then and there that is how I will spend the rest of my life fishing! From my father's collection of angling gear, I rustled up an old glass fly rod, automatic fly reel, and a fly line that gave me no clue of its kind. Yes, it was crude, but it was enough to start my passion in learning fly fishing. On a small Sierra Nevada Mountains stream, I stood on an old log bridge haphazardly casting to the gin clear water below me. But a miracle happened, as a beautiful 8" brook trout (that must have been starving) rushed up and grabbed my drowned, quill-wing fly! It was the most epic moment of my first fish caught with a fly to engage my fly fishing pursuits!
Now, more than four decades later, many fish species have come to hand in both fresh and salt water and each pursuit is always a thrill! For me, there are always new challenges of adding another kind of fish species to the list, or perhaps seeking the elusive giant. All the while, experiencing new terrain and making new angling friends along the way. Follow me on my blog for my latest fly fishing pursuit! |
